Self Initiated

A little something from the spare time

The final year of the design degree led to the production of a book of rhymes and silly things I had concocted. I created the illustrations based on the charming character of Tim Burton and the mad happenstance of Ralph Steadman.

Within the first week of being at Make Studio, someone said something utterly stupid, it was brilliant. Since then, I’ve been keeping track of all the bizarre oddities to spew forth from the minds of colleagues.

Ever since a D&AD brief by the then Lippa Pearce I, like most designers and their love affair with typography have fallen for the alluring call of rebus imagery.

From the sketchbook:

Made in Scotland

Bred in Wales, educated in Cornwall and working in England. Living among the cafés, coffee shops and clichés of Christchurch. Plumen light bulbs dangle in pendants above the dining room table, Bertoia diamond chairs are draped in fur throws and a rosewood Eames lounger is home to an owl shaped cushion with button eyes. I’ve operated under the guise of a designer since 2008, dabbling in the ink, pixels and vectors of brand and building between the parentheses of web development.
